Ducati service
in Cascais.

Independent Ducati workshop — desmodromic valve service, electronics, suspension, exhaust install and full custom for Monster, Panigale, Multistrada, Scrambler, Streetfighter, Diavel.

Why Ducati owners come to us

Desmo done properly.

Iron Custom Motors is an independent Ducati specialist in Cascais. The desmodromic valve train, the layered electronics, semi-active suspension, dry and wet clutches — we know how each Ducati family behaves and where it likes to give trouble. The bike that makes most independent shops nervous is the one that's on our bench every week.

The desmo service is where a lot of Ducati owners get blindsided by the bill at the dealer. We do it the way it's meant to be done — on the correct interval, at independent-workshop rates — and you get the work documented in writing, so there's no guessing about what was actually touched.

We cover the modern range: Monster (air- and water-cooled), Panigale V2/V4, Multistrada V2/V4/V4 Rally, the Scrambler family, Streetfighter V2/V4, Diavel, Hypermotard, SuperSport. Everything from a daily street bike to a full track-day build for Estoril.

Specialist tooling

Ducati-specific diagnostic and tools.

Proper Ducati diagnostics, the desmo-specific service tooling, and in-house dyno tuning. The desmo service in particular needs dedicated tools and a full shim-selection range that a general workshop simply doesn't stock — we do.

Ducati Diagnostic System (DDS) / equivalent

Read codes, watch live data, run ECU adaptations and component coding across the modern Ducati electronics.

Desmo service tooling

Rocker pullers, shim-selection kit, dedicated feeler gauges. The right tools to set clearances accurately, not by feel.

Cam belt locking and timing tools (older models)

The specific tools for cam belt service on pre-Panigale Ducati — done by the book, with the engine locked correctly.

In-house dyno + Termignoni / Akrapovič tuning

Dyno-verified ECU maps for full exhaust systems. We install, flash and confirm the result on the dyno.

What we do on Ducati

Service. Desmo. Tuning.

Routine intervals, the desmo, custom suspension, exhaust and ECU work, track-day prep — and the rare jobs other shops would rather not take on.

01

Desmo service (valve clearance)

On the correct interval for the model: 24,000 km on older Ducati, 30,000 km intake / 60,000 km exhaust on Panigale V4 / Multi V4. Written before/after report.

02

Scheduled service (oil + filter + checks)

To Ducati intervals — oil, filter, fluids, brake check, chain inspection, plus the model-specific items.

03

Cam belt service (older models)

Done properly with locking tools and a new tensioner — required at the model's set interval, no shortcuts.

04

Dry clutch service

Older Monster, 916, 996, 999 — basket inspection, plate measurement, replacement where it's worn.

05

Wet clutch service

Modern Panigale, Multi V4, Streetfighter V4 — friction plate inspection, drag clearance, hydraulic bleed.

06

Suspension service

Öhlins service, semi-active suspension diagnostics (Sachs, Marzocchi), full fork and shock rebuild.

07

Exhaust install (Termignoni, Akrapovič) + map

Full system or slip-on with the matching ECU map — dyno-verified.

08

Track-day prep

Suspension setup, braided lines and pad upgrade, slick fitment, ride height and lap-time work. Ducati run wide rubber and sport-spec rims, so if you want a dedicated set of track wheels mounted and balanced we handle that through our motorcycle tyre service.

Typical Ducati issues we know

Where the desmo bites.

Years on the platform mean we know how these bikes fail. Caught early, most of it is a routine fix. Left too long, it gets expensive.

Valve clearance drift on desmo

Usually missed because the service gets put off. We measure it properly and correct it with the right shims — not just nod at the symptom.

Ride-by-wire throttle desync

Common on the modern bikes. We re-sync it through DDS and confirm it's clean on live data.

Battery / charging on bikes parked over winter

A modern Ducati can flatten its own battery with all the electronics asleep. We diagnose it and set you up with a proper trickle charger.

Dry clutch basket wear (older Monsters)

That signature dry-clutch rattle hides real wear. We measure the basket clearances properly instead of guessing.

Electronic suspension calibration errors

Sachs / Marzocchi self-calibration faults. We reset them with the correct tool and check the damping actually responds.

FAQ

Common questions.

How often is desmo service really needed?
It depends on the model and year. Older Ducati: 24,000 km. Modern Panigale V4 / Multistrada V4: 30,000 km on the intake valves, 60,000 km on the exhaust valves. We check it against your bike's specific schedule before quoting.
How much does a desmo service cost at Iron Custom Motors?
It's priced per model — from €750 for older Monsters, up to €1,500+ for a Panigale V4 with full inspection. Against a dealer bill, that's usually 30–40% less. You get it in writing before any work starts.
Can you flash a Termignoni / Akrapovič map onto my Ducati?
Yes — we fit the exhaust (full system or slip-on) and upload the matched ECU map. Termignoni race kit, Akrapovič with eCU, third-party maps where needed. The result is dyno-verified and documented.
Do you do track-day prep for Panigale / Streetfighter / Multistrada?
Yes — suspension setup, brake lines and pads, slick fitment, ride height, ECU map dialled in to the circuit. We've prepped bikes for Estoril, Portimão and Jarama.
Are you an authorized Ducati dealer?
No — we're an independent Ducati workshop. The upside is transparent pricing (desmo at independent rates, not dealer rates) and the freedom to fit OEM Ducati Performance or top-tier aftermarket. We work with all the major Ducati distributors and have full catalog access.
