01 Scheduled service (oil, filter, fluids, checks)
Honda interval service — oil and filter, fluids, brake and chain inspection, plus model-specific items. Consumables included; from €150.
Independent Honda workshop — diagnostics, scheduled service, DCT service, valve clearance, electrical, suspension and tuning for Africa Twin, CB, CBR, Hornet, Gold Wing, VFR, Rebel and the small-bore fun bikes.
Iron Custom Motors is an independent Honda motorcycle specialist in Cascais. Honda has a reputation for building some of the most reliable engines on the road — and that reputation is earned. But "reliable" doesn't mean "service-free," and it doesn't mean every workshop knows where a high-mileage Honda actually needs attention. We do.
The engineering culture here isn't borrowed. Our team has stood on the podium where it counts — AMD World Championship builders, a Bonneville land-speed record, and BMW Motorrad Customizing Champions 2023. That's the level of mechanical discipline we bring to a routine oil-and-valve service on a CB650R, not just to a show bike. The same hands that built record-setting machines torque your fork pinch bolts.
Independent means no dealer mark-up, freedom to fit OEM or quality aftermarket as the job calls for it, and direct communication. Written estimate before any work, written report after. That is the whole arrangement.
A real Honda shop is defined by whether it can talk to the bike the way the factory does. We run dealer-grade Honda motorcycle diagnostics — not a generic OBD reader that only sees emissions codes.
Honda's dedicated motorcycle diagnostic platform. Reads and clears DTCs across all ECUs, monitors live PGM-FI data, runs the "Quick Doctor" health check, and performs resets and adaptations a generic scanner can't reach.
Where a model calls for deeper system access or guided troubleshooting, we run Honda Diagnostic System protocols to get into the menus generic tools never see.
Dual Clutch Transmission is the Honda differentiator most independent shops avoid. We service it properly — fluid and filter change to Honda's procedure, clutch behaviour diagnosis, and software-side checks for shift-quality complaints.
Throttle body synchronisation, idle and fuelling checks, injector and sensor live-data verification on the multi-cylinder bikes.
From a first scheduled service on a new Transalp to a full electrical rebuild on a VFR — done with Honda-specific knowledge and the right tooling.
Honda interval service — oil and filter, fluids, brake and chain inspection, plus model-specific items. Consumables included; from €150.
Dual Clutch Transmission fluid and filter change to Honda's procedure, plus clutch engagement check and software-side verification. The job most workshops won't touch — we will, on Africa Twin DCT, NC750X DCT, Gold Wing DCT and the rest.
Done properly with feeler gauges and shim or bucket selection where the engine requires it. Honda's V4 and inline-4 valve work is labour-intensive and we price it honestly up front.
Full fault-code read and live data with MCS. Regulator/rectifier, stator and charging-system diagnosis — a known Honda weak point we check first, not last.
Fork seal replacement, oil change, sag and preload setup, rebound and compression tuning. Showa and Öhlins rebuild where fitted. While the wheels are off, this is the natural moment for new rubber — see our motorcycle tyre fitting and balancing service.
Pad and fluid service, caliper rebuild, full ABS bleed including Honda's combined-brake systems where fitted.
Throttle body sync, idle stabilisation, spark plug service, PGM-FI live-data check across twins and fours.
Exhaust install with the matched fuelling solution (Akrapovič, Yoshimura, SC-Project), suspension upgrades, ergonomics, touring and protection.
Honda builds reliable bikes — so the honest version is this: there aren't many weak points, but the ones that exist are well known, and we check them by default rather than waiting for a roadside failure.
The classic older-Honda fault — CBR, VFR and Hornet of a certain age cook their regulator/rectifier. We test charging output and connector condition before it strands you.
On higher-mileage bikes the stator and charging circuit drift. We read the full charging system rather than guessing at a flat battery.
Some Honda models develop tensioner rattle with age. We identify whether it's the tensioner, the chain, or a harmless cold-start noise.
The V4's valve service is genuinely labour-intensive — there's no shortcut. We tell you the real hours up front so the bill is never a surprise.
Harsh or hesitant DCT shifts are often a software or clutch-adaptation issue, not a failure. We diagnose with MCS before anyone talks about replacing parts.
Aging fuel pumps cause hot-start and high-load stumbles. We pressure-test rather than swap on a hunch.
Current production, recent past, modern classics — if it wears the wing, bring it in.
CB500F, CB650R, CB750 Hornet, CB1000R and CB1000 Hornet — the naked range we see most.
CBR500R, CBR650R, CBR600RR, and the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade — street, sport and track prep.
CRF1100L Africa Twin, including the DCT models. Adventure setup, DCT service, long-travel suspension.
NC750X (manual and DCT) and the XL750 Transalp — the do-everything middleweights.
CMX500 and CMX1100 Rebel — including the Rebel 1100 DCT.
GL1800 Gold Wing — full touring service, DCT, suspension and electronics.
VFR800 and VFR1200 V4s; the air-cooled CB1100 modern classic.
CRF300L and CRF450 — dual-sport and enduro service and setup.
Grom / MSX125, Monkey and Dax — the little ones get the same attention as the big ones.
We source genuine Honda OEM parts through the distributor network, alongside top-tier aftermarket for performance, touring and protection. From a single OEM filter to a full exhaust system, we order it directly.
